Both help centers describe spoken conversations. The score is the assistant's opinion, not a measure. Use when the user asks for help with this job."

# Practice a sales call with AI

## When to use

Owners and sales staff who freeze when a customer says the price is too high. Use made-up customer details. Do not paste real client names or private information into a chatbot.

## Steps

1. Write down the situation: what you sell, your price, and the objection you dread, such as 'your quote is higher than the other one'.
2. Open ChatGPT and start Voice. OpenAI says options such as Live, Advanced and Standard are under Settings, then Voice, and depend on your plan, region and app version. Or open Claude, start a chat and tap the sound wave symbol. Anthropic says voice mode is a beta feature.
3. Paste the setup prompt below first as text, so the assistant plays the customer and stays in the role.
4. Run the call for five minutes. Answer out loud as you would on a real call.
5. Say 'stop and recap'. Read the written recap on screen. OpenAI notes ChatGPT can make mistakes, so treat the notes as ideas, not a verdict.
6. Pick one thing to change and run the same objection again. Compare how it felt.
7. Do this once a week for the objections that cost you jobs.

## Prompt

Fill the [BRACKETED] parts with the user, then follow this prompt:

```
Play a customer for a practice sales call. I will speak my answers.
What I sell: [PRODUCT OR SERVICE]
My price: [PRICE AND WHAT IT INCLUDES]
The customer: [A MADE-UP PERSON, for example: a homeowner comparing two quotes]
The objection: [for example: your price is higher than the other quote]
Rules:
- Stay in character. Be polite but push back twice before you agree to anything.
- Do not make up facts about my business. If I say something you cannot judge, ask me a question.
- Keep each turn to two or three sentences.
- When I say 'stop and recap', leave the role and write: what I did well (two points), what to say differently (two points), and one line I could use next time.
- Do not score me out of 10. Give notes only.
```

## Guardrails

- Draft first and show the user. Never send, post, pay, book, cancel or delete without the user's explicit approval of that exact action.
- Use only facts the user gives you or that you can cite. If something is missing, ask instead of guessing.

## Common snags

- The AI customer agrees too fast. Tell it to push back twice.
- Advice that sounds smooth but is wrong for your trade. Check it against your own experience.
- Pasting real customer details. Use a made-up person.
