What does this setup do?

You give ChatGPT your rent ceiling, areas, size, and move-in date, it runs a daily scheduled task that searches for new public listings that match, and it sends you a short list with links. You check each listing and contact landlords yourself.

How do you set it up?

Tools

• ChatGPT Free or a paid plan. Scheduled tasks are on Free, Go, Plus, and Pro. Free gets 3 active tasks that run at most once a day.
• Your must-haves: max rent, neighborhoods or ZIP codes, bedrooms, pets, and move-in date
• The listing sites you already use, so you can open each match there

Steps

1. Write down your must-haves and your deal breakers. Keep the list short so the task doesn't filter out good places.
2. Paste the prompt below and ask ChatGPT to set it up as a daily scheduled task. On Free, it runs once a day in a flexible window like morning or night.
3. Turn on task notifications in Settings so the daily list reaches you.
4. Open every match on the listing site or the property manager's own website before you reach out. Listings found by search can be old or already rented.
5. Watch for rental scam signs: rent far below the area, a landlord who can't show the place, or a request to pay by wire transfer, gift card, or crypto.
6. When you sign a lease, pause or delete the task in Scheduled.

What tips make it smoother?

• Search the address with the owner or rental company's name. If the same place shows up with a different owner or company name, the FTC calls that a scam sign.
• Until you've agreed to rent a place, a landlord doesn't need your Social Security number or a screenshot of your credit score, per the FTC.
• Set a stop date in the prompt so the task doesn't keep running after you move.
