What does this setup do?
Run a realistic behavioral interview practice where AI asks one question at a time and scores your answers against the job description.
Who is it for?
Job seekers who want to practice "tell me about a time" questions and get honest feedback before the real thing.
How do you set it up?
Tools
- A ChatGPT or Claude account (free tier works)
- The job description you are interviewing for
- Your resume (paste the text so answers stay personal)
Steps
- Paste the job description and your resume into the prompt below. Name the role, industry, and the soft skills being tested.
- Tell the AI to ask one behavioral question at a time and wait for your answer before continuing.
- Answer out loud, from real experience, in 60-90 seconds. Type a short version of what you said.
- Ask the AI to score the answer against a simple rubric: specific example, your role, result, and relevance to the job.
- Have it flag filler words and vague phrases, and suggest exact replacement wording.
- Repeat for 5-8 questions, then ask for the two weakest answers and redo them.
Example output
Illustrative. Your results will differ.
- Your resume against the job post: 6 matches, 2 gaps
- 2 bullet rewrites that close the gaps
- Use what fits. Skip what doesn't sound like you.

What usually goes wrong?
Where agents tend to stall on this job. More patterns in Where AI gets stuck.
- AI feedback is only as good as your input. Paste the real job description or the rubric is generic.
- Typing answers is easier than saying them. Practice out loud at least once before the interview.
- AI can be overly encouraging. Ask directly: "where was this answer weak?"

Common questions
- How long should each practice answer be?
- Aim for 60-90 seconds. Shorter feels thin, longer loses the interviewer. Ask the AI to time you.
- Can AI really judge my answers?
- It can check structure, specificity, and relevance to the job description. It cannot judge delivery, so do at least one round out loud.
- What if I do not have a job description?
- Use a similar posting for the same role. The rubric still works; it just will not be tuned to one company.
What tips make it smoother?
- Use the STAR shape: situation, task, action, result. Interviewers listen for the result.
- Answer from real experience only. Invented stories fall apart under follow-up questions.
- Build a small bank of 6-8 stories from your resume. Most behavioral questions map to the same stories.
