Quick answer

List your packages, then add the objections you hear every week with calm answers. The AI drafts the sheet so price shoppers sell themselves.

What does this setup do?

Create a one-page pricing sheet with clear packages and pre-written answers to the price objections you hear most.

Who is it for?

Service businesses tired of the "that is too expensive" conversation happening with zero context.

How do you set it up?

Tools

  • A chat AI (free tier works)
  • Your packages or price ranges, written honestly
  • The 4 to 6 objections you hear most ("too expensive", "can you discount", "what is included")
  • Your real answers: what is included, what costs extra, why your price is what it is

Steps

  1. Write down your packages or typical price ranges. Three tiers works well: essential, standard, premium.
  2. List every price objection you heard in the last 90 days, in the customer words.
  3. Next to each objection, write your honest one or two sentence answer.
  4. Paste the packages, objections, and your answers plus the prompt below into the AI.
  5. Read the draft. Every answer must sound like you on a good day, not a script.
  6. Format it as one clean page: packages on top, "common questions" below.
  7. Send it with quotes and keep a copy on your phone for in-person conversations.
  8. Decide the new price, the start date, and whether it applies to current clients or only new ones. Paste those three facts plus one plain reason into the prompt. Never let the AI invent the numbers.
  9. Ask for a short notice in your normal voice: name the old price and new price, the effective date, and the reason, then invite questions. Read it out loud before sending. If it sounds like a press release, rewrite it.

Example output

Illustrative. Your results will differ.

  • This month's spending sorted into 6 categories
  • 3 subscriptions you forgot about, flagged for review
  • You decide what to cut. Nothing moves on its own.

Copy-paste prompt

Adapt bracketed fields to your situation.

Build a one-page pricing sheet for my service business. Calm, confident tone. No discount language unless I include it.

Business: [BUSINESS NAME]
Packages:
1. [PACKAGE NAME]: [PRICE OR RANGE], includes: [LIST]
2. [PACKAGE NAME]: [PRICE OR RANGE], includes: [LIST]
3. [PACKAGE NAME]: [PRICE OR RANGE], includes: [LIST]

What is NOT included (say it plainly): [LIST]

The objections I hear, with my real answers:
1. "[OBJECTION, e.g. That is more than I expected]" → My answer: [YOUR HONEST ANSWER]
2. "[OBJECTION]" → My answer: [YOUR HONEST ANSWER]
3. "[OBJECTION]" → My answer: [YOUR HONEST ANSWER]
[ADD MORE AS NEEDED]

Build the sheet:
- Top: the three packages, scannable, with what is included in each.
- Middle: a short "what affects the price" note (size, condition, timeline) so shoppers understand the range.
- Bottom: "Common questions": each objection as the question, my answer rewritten smoothly but keeping my meaning.
- Close with one line on next steps: [e.g. "Reply to this email and I will hold your slot for 14 days."]

Rules: do not invent discounts, guarantees, or services I did not list. Keep my answers honest, not salesy.

What usually goes wrong?

Where agents tend to stall on this job. More patterns in Where AI gets stuck.

  • Hiding the price to "get them on the phone." Shoppers just move on to the competitor who shows theirs.
  • Answering objections with defensiveness. The sheet should sound like you explaining, not arguing.
  • Letting the AI invent a guarantee or discount. Check every line against what you actually offer.
  • Burying the increase at the bottom of a long email. Put the new price, the date, and the reason up front, then stop.

Common questions

Should I put exact prices or ranges?
Ranges if every job varies, exact prices if your packages are fixed. Either way, show something. A sheet with no numbers answers no objections.
What if a customer still says it is too expensive?
Then they are not your customer, and the sheet did its job by telling you fast. Thank them politely and move on. Discounting to win it usually costs you later.
How is this different from a quote?
A quote is priced for one specific job and customer. The pricing sheet is your general menu. Send the sheet early to set expectations, the quote when they are serious.
How much notice should I give before raising prices?
A common practice is one to two months of notice for subscription or repeat services. It gives loyal clients time to adjust and shows the change is planned, not sprung on them.

What tips make it smoother?

  • Three packages beat one price. Most buyers pick the middle, and the top tier makes the middle look reasonable.
  • Say what is not included. It prevents the most painful objection of all: the surprise at invoice time.
  • Anchor your price to the alternative. "A new deck costs X; keeping yours safe costs a tenth of that" reframes the number.
  • Update the sheet when your prices change. An old pricing sheet floating around is worse than none.
  • State the change without apology language. 'I am writing to let you know' sounds confident; 'I am sorry to have to do this' sounds unsure, and clients hear the doubt.
