What does this setup do?
Draft a clear job description. Title, responsibilities, requirements, benefits you actually offer, and EEO language your lawyer would expect you to review, without inventing perks or salary you cannot pay.
Who is it for?
Small team leads hiring their first role, or anyone recycling a five-year-old posting that still says “rockstar ninja.”
How do you set it up?
Tools
- ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini
- Bullet list: what the person does day one, must-haves vs nice-to-haves
- Real comp range and location policy (remote/hybrid/onsite)
- Your ATS or job board (you click Publish)
Steps
- Write facts only: team size, reporting line, tools used, outcomes for the first 90 days.
- Separate required skills from nice-to-haves so the model does not merge them.
- Paste tone (formal startup, trades shop, nonprofit) and forbidden fluff words.
- Ask for sections: About us (short), Role summary, Responsibilities, Requirements, Nice-to-have, Benefits (only what you list), How to apply.
- Add a note that EEO/disability/accommodation boilerplate is a placeholder. You or counsel review.
- Copy into your ATS; you publish and answer candidates. No connected agents with post permissions.
- Ask for a shortlist of interview questions tied to the role: paste the job description and ask for 8 to 10 questions, each mapped to one required skill, with most questions asking for a past example (what they did, what happened) rather than hypotheticals. Have the model show its output first and review every question before you use it.
- Ask for a one-page scorecard table: columns for the skill being tested, the question, what a good answer sounds like, what a bad answer sounds like, and a 1 to 5 score. Score each candidate right after the interview, before you discuss them with anyone else.
Example output
Illustrative. Your results will differ.
- Your draft rewritten: clear, polite, half the length
- Tone matched to a work email, not a text
- Send the version that sounds like you.

What usually goes wrong?
Where agents tend to stall on this job. More patterns in Where AI gets stuck.
- Models invent benefits and salary. Delete every perk you did not paste.
- Generic “fast-paced environment” lines attract the wrong applicants. Swap for concrete outcomes.
- Legal compliance varies by state and country. This is a writing aid, not HR counsel.
- The model can drift into questions about protected topics (age, family, health). Treat any such question as a hard fail: delete it and re-run with the lawful-questions rule stated up front.

Common questions
- ai to write job description
- Paste role facts, required skills, comp if you have it, and tone; ask for structured sections with a rule against invented benefits. You edit and publish in your ATS or job board. Public HR blogs recommend human review for compliance.
- can ai write a job posting
- Yes for a first draft from bullets you provide. It cannot know your culture or legal obligations. Treat output as copy you verify before publish.
- Should I let AI post the job for me?
- Not for this setup. You control the account, spend, and wording when the post goes live.
- What should I ask in interviews and how do I score candidates fairly?
- Ask every candidate the same 8 to 10 questions, each tied to a required skill from the job description, and favor questions that ask for real past examples over hypotheticals. Score answers 1 to 5 against written guidelines that describe good and bad answers, right after each interview and before discussing with anyone. The scorecard keeps the decision on evidence, not gut feel.
Where should you go next on this site?
What tips make it smoother?
- Honest limitation: it has not worked on your team. You sanity-check whether requirements are realistic for the pay band.
- Ask for a shorter LinkedIn version under 300 words after you approve the long post.
- Pair with tailor-resume setup when you are on the other side of the table.
- Save a “company facts” block you reuse for every role.
- Keep interview questions lawful: do not ask about age, family plans, health, or other protected topics. Note in the prompt that the scorecard must test job-related skills only, and delete any question you could not defend as job-related.
