Quick answer
Here's how I'd set this up in ChatGPT or Claude (not run by us yet). I'd paste the recurring charges from my card statement, have the chat sort them into keep and cancel, then get the cancel steps and short refund requests that I send myself.

What does this setup do?
You paste recurring charges from your statement, ChatGPT or Claude sorts them into keep or cancel, and it drafts cancel steps, refund requests, and a tracker of who still owes you a reply. You cancel and send everything yourself.
Who is it for?
For anyone who already knows which subscriptions should go and wants the cancel steps and refund requests written out.
How do you set it up?
Tools
- ChatGPT Free or Claude Free
- Your last two or three card or bank statements, with card numbers removed
- Your login for each service you plan to cancel
- Optional: the list from the subscription-finder setup on this site
Steps
- Copy every recurring charge from your statements: merchant, amount, and date. Remove card and account numbers first.
- Paste the list into the chat with the prompt below, and mark each one keep or cancel.
- For each cancel, check where it's billed: the company directly, Apple, or Google Play. The cancel and refund path is different for each.
- Cancel each one yourself in the service's account settings or your app store's subscription page.
- Send the refund requests the chat drafts, only for charges you didn't use or didn't mean to renew. For Apple, request it at reportaproblem.apple.com. For Google Play, Google says contacting the app's developer is often fastest.
- Paste replies back into the same chat to update the tracker, and follow up on any request that's still open.
Example output
Illustrative. Your results will differ.
- 11 recurring charges sorted: 7 keep, 4 cancel
- 3 refund requests drafted for unused renewals
- Tracker ready. Nothing sent.

Help me cancel subscriptions and ask for refunds. Don't contact any company for me.
Here are my recurring charges (merchant, amount, date): [paste list]
Keep: [names]
Cancel: [names]
1. For each cancel, tell me whether it looks billed directly, through Apple, or through Google Play, based on how it shows on the statement. If you can't tell, say so.
2. Give me the cancel path for each in one line. Use web search to find the company's own help page and link it.
3. For charges I say I didn't use, draft a refund request under 80 words with the date and amount.
4. Make a tracker table: service, cancelled (yes/no), refund asked (yes/no), reply, next step.
Rules: Don't promise a refund will be granted. Don't invent policies. Use only the charges I pasted.Free starter pack

What usually goes wrong?
Where agents tend to stall on this job. More patterns in Where AI gets stuck.
- Refunds are up to each company and its terms. Apple and Google both say eligibility varies.
- Some services only cancel inside their own account settings or app, so you need each login.
- A charge can show under a payment service's name. Match the amount and date against the company's receipts.

Common questions
- How do I get a refund on a subscription I forgot to cancel?
- Cancel it first, then ask the company for a refund on the last charge, with the date and amount. For App Store charges, request it at reportaproblem.apple.com. A refund isn't guaranteed.
- How do I request a refund from Apple for a subscription?
- Sign in at reportaproblem.apple.com, choose Request a refund, pick a reason, then pick the subscription. Apple says to expect an update within 24 to 48 hours.
- How do I get a refund on Google Play?
- Google says contacting the app's developer is often the quickest route, since most Play apps come from third-party developers. You can also request a refund through Google Play.
- Can ChatGPT cancel my subscriptions?
- In this setup, no. It sorts your charges, finds each company's cancel page, and drafts refund requests. You cancel and send everything yourself.
Where should you go next on this site?
What tips make it smoother?
- Cancel first so the next charge stops, then ask about the last one.
- If a charge names Apple or Google, start with that store's subscription page.
- Keep the tracker in one chat so every reply sits next to its request.
