Quick answer
Here's how I'd set this up in Grok Bot (not affiliated, and not run by us yet). Every weekday a routine reads your X Lists and flags posts that stand out on public counts. You still decide what to write.

What does this setup do?
A routine reads your X Lists and flags posts that stand out on public likes, reposts, replies, and quotes. You still write anything you post.
Who is it for?
For anyone who already keeps competitors on X Lists and doesn't want to open each list by hand every morning.
How do you set it up?
Tools
- One watch bot in Grok Bot. It remembers which lists you care about.
- A weekday routine at 8 AM that sends results to chat.
- X List reads. You give it the list names or links. It flags posts using public counts only.
- You do not ask it to post, reply, or quote anyone.
Steps
- Put the accounts you watch on an X List, if they are not on one already.
- Tell the bot the list names or links and ask it to remember them.
- Ask for a routine: every weekday at 8, read those lists and message you the standouts in chat.
- Standout means more replies or reposts than that account’s other recent posts, using public counts.
- If a list or a post will not open, the bot says so. It does not fill the hole with a guess.
Example output
Illustrative. Your results will differ.
- List opened: 5 posts flagged
- Each line has a link and public counts
- One list failed to open, and the report says so.
Copy-paste prompt
Adapt bracketed fields to your situation.
You are my competitor watch. Read these X Lists: [list names or links].
Every weekday at 8, message me in this chat.
For each list you can actually open:
- up to 5 posts that stand out on public counts (likes, reposts, replies, quotes) compared with that account's other recent posts
- link, author, the counts you saw, and one line on what the post is about
Rules:
- Read lists and public posts only. Do not post, reply, like, or send a DM.
- Do not use impressions. If you cannot read a list or a post, say so. Do not fill the gap with guesses.
- Caps: 25 results per call, 30 calls a minute, 1000 calls a day. Stop and tell me if you hit one.
- I decide what to write. You only flag posts.Newsletter

What usually goes wrong?
Where agents tend to stall on this job. More patterns in Where AI gets stuck.
- It only flags posts it can actually read on the lists you name. A locked account or a list that will not open stays blank, and it does not use private impressions to pick standouts.
Which chat tools work with this prompt?
This prompt needs routines and connectors, so it's written for:
- Grok Bot
Common questions
- How do I track competitors on X?
- You keep them on an X List and ask your bot to read that list every weekday morning. It flags posts with stronger public counts than that account’s recent posts.
- Can an AI bot watch my Twitter lists?
- Yes. You give the bot the list name or link. If it can't open the list, it should say so instead of guessing.
- How do you find standout posts in your niche?
- You ask the bot to compare public likes, reposts, replies, and quotes with that account’s other recent posts. You do not ask it for impression numbers.
- Will a competitor bot post for me?
- No. It reads and flags, and it can't publish posts anyway. Anything on your account, you write.
Where should you go next on this site?
What tips make it smoother?
- One list per theme. A list of everyone you have ever followed is too noisy.
- Keep your own account off the list so the report is about other people.
- A flagged post is a lead for your own angle. You do not copy the wording.
