Quick answer
Here's how I'd set this up in Grok Bot (not affiliated, and not run by us yet). You message an idea in chat, the bot adds a row to a Google Sheet, and every Monday it sends a roundup in the same chat.
Inspired by a post from @ryangrowthh.

What does this setup do?
You message your bot an article idea in chat. It adds a row to a Google Sheet and leaves a weekly roundup in that same chat.
Who is it for?
For anyone whose article ideas end up scattered across notes apps and forgotten tabs. Chat is already open, so that's where the ideas go.
How do you set it up?
Tools
- One tracker bot in Grok Bot. It remembers the sheet name.
- The Sheets connector. The bot can append a row and read the sheet later.
- A Monday routine that sends the roundup to chat.
- The only write is the sheet row. It does not post or email anyone.
Steps
- Make a Google Sheet with columns for date, idea, source, status, and notes.
- Ask the bot to connect Google Sheets. You approve the login.
- Tell it the sheet name and ask it to remember that.
- When you have an idea, you message the bot in chat. It appends one row and confirms what it wrote.
- Ask for a routine: every Monday at 8, read the new rows and message you a short roundup in chat.
Example output
Illustrative. Your results will differ.
- Row added: date, idea, status new
- Monday roundup: 4 new ideas, 3 still open
- Top 3 picks, one line each
Copy-paste prompt
Adapt bracketed fields to your situation.
You are my article idea tracker. Remember the sheet name.
Sheet: [Google Sheet name]
Columns: date, idea, source, status, notes.
When I message you an idea in this chat:
- Append one row.
- Status starts as "new".
- If a detail is missing, leave it blank. Do not invent it.
- Reply with the row you wrote.
Every Monday at 8, read the sheet and message me a roundup in this chat:
- ideas added since last Monday
- anything still marked new
- 3 I should pick from, with one line on why
Rules:
- Only write to that sheet.
- Do not email, text, or post.
- If the Sheets connector is not connected, say so and do not claim the row was saved.Newsletter

What usually goes wrong?
Where agents tend to stall on this job. More patterns in Where AI gets stuck.
- If the Sheets connector isn't connected, the bot can't append the row. The prompt tells it to say so instead of pretending it saved.
Which chat tools work with this prompt?
This prompt needs routines and connectors, so it's written for:
- Grok Bot
Common questions
- How do I track article ideas without Notion?
- You message the idea to your bot. It appends a row in a Google Sheet through the Sheets connector. The sheet is the log.
- Can I text my AI bot an article idea?
- No. You message it in the app chat, or in Slack if you've connected Slack. Texting isn't something we've verified.
- How do I save content ideas to Google Sheets?
- You connect Sheets, name the columns, and send one idea per message. The bot appends a row and tells you what it wrote.
- Can an AI bot send a weekly content idea roundup?
- Yes. You ask for one every Monday at 8 AM. The bot reads the sheet and posts the roundup in chat. It doesn't email the list anywhere.
Where should you go next on this site?
What tips make it smoother?
- One idea per message. A dump of ten ideas in one blob is harder to file.
- Use status values you will actually update: new, writing, shipped, dropped.
