Quick answer
Here's how I'd set this up in Grok Bot (not affiliated, and not run by us yet). Before you share or reply, paste the post, and a bot looks for the original source behind each number and marks it supported, contradicted, or not found.

What does this setup do?
Paste an X post you're about to share or reply to, and a bot traces each number back to a public source and marks it supported, contradicted, or not found. You decide what to do next.
Who is it for?
For anyone who is about to share or reply to a post and wants the numbers checked against a public page first.
How do you set it up?
Tools
- One checker bot in Grok Bot. You paste a post or a link in its chat.
- Public web search and fetching public pages, so it can open the source it cites.
- Public X reads if you give it a public post link. No account connection for that.
- You share or reply yourself. The bot does not post.
Steps
- You make a bot and tell it to check claims only. You ask it to remember that it must not invent a source.
- When you are about to share or reply, you paste the post text or the public link into chat.
- It lists only the numbers and claims that appear in the post.
- It searches the public web, fetches the page, and quotes the line it found, with the link.
- Each claim comes back as supported, contradicted, or not found. A missing page stays "not found".
- You open at least one link yourself, then you decide whether to share or reply.
Example output
Illustrative. Your results will differ.
- 2 claims pulled from the post
- 1 supported, with a public link and a quoted line
- 1 marked not found
- Nothing posted.
Copy-paste prompt
Adapt bracketed fields to your situation.
You are my fact check for other people's X posts. When I paste a post or a public link, check it before I share or reply.
1. List the specific claims and stats in the post. If a number is not in the post, do not add one.
2. Search the public web for the original source of each claim. Fetch the public page. Quote the line you found and give the link.
3. Mark each claim: supported, contradicted, or not found.
4. If you cannot open a source, write "not found". Do not guess.
Rules:
- Do not post, reply, like, repost, or send a DM.
- Do not use impressions.
- A repost is not the original source. Look for the page the number came from.
- Do not invent a study, a quote, or a link.
- I decide whether to share or reply. You only check.Newsletter

What usually goes wrong?
Where agents tend to stall on this job. More patterns in Where AI gets stuck.
- The bot can miss a source, open the wrong page, or quote a line out of context. If it cannot fetch the page, the claim stays "not found". You still have to open the link before you share or reply.
Which chat tools work with this prompt?
Paste the prompt into any of these assistants (free or paid tiers).
- Grok Bot
Common questions
- How do I fact-check a tweet before I share it?
- Paste the post into chat. The bot lists the claims that are actually there, fetches public pages, and marks each one supported, contradicted, or not found. You open a link before you share.
- Can an AI bot check stats in someone else’s post?
- It can search the public web and fetch a public page, then quote what that page says. If the page will not open, it should say not found instead of filling in a number.
- Will the bot reply for me after a fact check?
- No. It cannot publish a reply. You decide whether to share or reply after you read the sources.
- What if the source page will not open?
- The claim stays "not found", which means unchecked. Look it up yourself or leave the post alone.
Where should you go next on this site?
What tips make it smoother?
- Paste the exact line with the number. A paraphrase hides which claim you wanted checked.
- Open the link it cites. A confident sentence is not a source.
- If the mark is "not found", treat that as not checked, not as true.
Where do the claims come from?
