AI bot that summarizes X bookmarks

Quick answer

Here's how I'd set this up in Grok Bot (not affiliated, and not run by us yet). Every morning at 7, a bot files your new X bookmarks into a Google Sheet, one row each, and sends you a short chat note on what's in there.

What does this setup do?

Every morning at 7, a bot files your new X bookmarks into a Google Sheet with a one-line summary each, then sends you up to 5 older saves worth opening. You still choose what to read.

Who is it for?

For anyone whose X bookmarks pile up and never get reread.

How do you set it up?

Tools

  • One bookmark bot in Grok Bot. It remembers which topics you care about.
  • The X plugin, connected as you, so it can read your bookmarks. It can't publish posts.
  • The Sheets connector, which adds one row per bookmark. That's the only thing it writes.
  • A morning routine. You ask for it in plain words: every morning at 7, send the summary in chat.

Steps

  1. You make a Google Sheet with columns for date saved, author, link, one-line summary, and long-form summary.
  2. You ask the bot to connect X and Google Sheets. You approve both logins.
  3. You tell it the topics you care about, the topics you skip, and the sheet name, and you ask it to remember those.
  4. You ask for a routine: every morning at 7, read new bookmarks, append a row for each one it can open, and message you in chat.
  5. It summarizes the post text the bookmark read returns. If that text looks cut off, the row says "partial". If the bookmark links to a public page, it fetches that page and summarizes it. X Articles and pages behind a login may not open, and the row says so.
  6. If a bookmark or a page will not open, the row says so. It does not invent the summary.
  7. You read the chat note. Nothing is posted, replied to, or sent as a DM.

Example output

Illustrative. Your results will differ.

  • 4 bookmarks logged
  • 1 long post marked partial
  • 1 link marked could not open
  • Nothing posted.

Copy-paste prompt

Adapt bracketed fields to your situation.

You are my X bookmark summary bot. Remember:
- Topics I care about: [topics]
- Topics I skip: [skip list]
- Sheet: [Google Sheet name]
- Columns: date saved, author, link, one-line summary, long-form summary

Every morning at 7, read my X bookmarks and message me in this chat.

For bookmarks saved since the last run:
- Append one row for each bookmark you can actually read.
- Summarize the post text you can read. If it looks cut off, write "partial". If it is an X Article or a page you cannot open, write "could not open".
- If it links to a public page, fetch that page and summarize it in a few sentences.
- If you cannot open the bookmark or the page, write "could not open". Do not invent the summary.

Then send a short note:
1. How many rows you logged.
2. Up to 5 saved earlier that are still worth opening, with the link and one line on why.
3. If nothing new opened, say that in one line.

Rules:
- Read bookmarks only. Do not post, reply, like, repost, unbookmark, or send a DM.
- Do not text me. This chat only.
- If X is not connected, say so and do not invent bookmarks.
- If the sheet is not connected, say so and do not claim a row was saved.
- Only write to that sheet.

What usually goes wrong?

Where agents tend to stall on this job. More patterns in Where AI gets stuck.

  • The plugin reads bookmarks on the account you connect, and the bot can fetch a public page linked from a bookmark. Long posts may come back cut off, and X Articles or pages behind a login may not open. Those rows say "partial" or "could not open" instead of a guessed summary.

This prompt needs routines and connectors, so it's written for:

Common questions

What is an AI bot that summarizes X bookmarks?
One bot with a morning routine. It reads the bookmarks on the X account you connect, writes a row for each one it can open, and sends a short summary in chat.
How do I summarize Twitter bookmarks?
Connect X, name a Google Sheet, and ask for a summary every morning at 7. The bot logs what it can read and messages you in chat. You still open the ones you want.
Can an AI bot read my X bookmarks?
Yes, after you connect the X plugin. That connection reads bookmarks, the home timeline, DMs, and who liked your posts. It cannot publish posts.
Will a bookmark bot post for me?
No. This setup only reads bookmarks and adds sheet rows, and the X plugin can't publish posts anyway.

Where should you go next on this site?

What tips make it smoother?

  • Name a skip list. Memes and giveaways do not need a row.
  • Keep one sheet as the log. A second notes app splits the pile again.
  • If a morning note is thin, ask whether the plugin failed to open bookmarks or whether you saved nothing new.

Find X posts worth quoting

Every weekday at 8, a bot searches public X posts in your niche, flags up to 5 that are drawing more replies or reposts than usual, and suggests an angle for a quote post.
